Ann Olazábal, University of Miami

Ethics

Ann Olazábal is Associate Professor of Business Law and Ethics in the Business Law Department at the School of Business Administration, University of Miami.  Her legal background is as a business lawyer in private practice, with more than ten years’ experience in litigation and consultation related to federal and state securities laws, real estate development, and international sales.  Ann left the practice and joined the University of Miami faculty full-time in 1997.  She has done executive teaching for the NASD and FINRA for many years and has served as a legal consultant in the credit and collections industry.

Ann has considerable experience lecturing and researching in the following areas:  the legal and regulatory environment of business, the interplay among laws, compliance, and business ethics, practical application of business ethics theory, the legal and ethical implications of marketing, behavioral law and economics, and risk assessment and management, among others.

Her research has been published in many law reviews, including the Columbia Business Law Review, Indiana Law Journal, Arizona Law Review, Wisconsin Law Review, Florida Law Review, Harvard Journal on Legislation, and Stanford Journal of Law, Business & Finance.  In 2006, Ann was named to the editorial board of the prestigious American Business Law Journal, and she serves as its Editor-in-Chief in 2010-2011.  She also has received teaching and scholarship awards at both the University and national levels.

Ann received her JD from the University of Notre Dame in 1987.  She also has an MBA and a BA, both with specializations in International Relations, and she is proficient in Spanish.
